Ability to search package data? #105
Comments
I think the scope of pkgsearch is only metadata of packages. @gaborcsardi? However your question reminds me of an rOpenSci unconf project: https://github.com/ropenscilabs/data-packages |
I think it is very much in scope. I wish we could index everything, especially documentation. But that would need a much bigger search server, indexing needs a lot of resources. So we can leave this issue open. OTOH there are some projects already that index documentation, and thus the public data objects as well. |
Thank you @maelle and @gaborcsardi. @maelle, I've started exploring the data-packages project - very helpful, and the motivation for why I asked that. If you or others are interested in working on that with me, I'd like to connect. I think it could be very helpful for teaching and learning; surprisingly, there just aren't that many accessible, possibly relevant collections of datasets available in immediately-useable formats for those purposes (in my view). |
I'd lack time but if you were to revive this project I'd encourage you to ping its authors + to post on rOpenSci forum maybe? |
Thank you for developing an awesome package. Is there the ability to search package data (built-in datasets)?
