Currently the R-exts guidelines discourage package authors from including the full license text in the source repository (see tidyverse/tidyr#262). However, this is problematic as repositories are major points of distribution.
While CRAN seemed unlikely to change their policies, there is a simple workaround implemented in tidyverse/tidyr#267. @hadley suggested I open an issue here to create a "standard helper so that this is automated".
