Very cold first year or two in Gulf of Mexico #30

The first year or two of the Gulf of Mexico temperature record seems too cold (<22degC). Is there a bias being introduced somehow? Perhaps missing data from the early years, or perhaps a different part (or depth) of the region was surveyed?

Or perhaps it is real, but we want to be sure it is.
