Deleting failed: No such file or directory

During execution of our image processing pipeline we are regularly getting the following error:

CPLE_AppDefinedError(3, 1, 'Deleting image_20220928-105039-938_0279.tif failed: No such file or directory')

This error happens when we try to overwrite an existing file. As far as I understand rasterio checks if a dataset exists before writing and if this is the case then removes it. The error we are getting means that the dataset exists but for some reason GDAL cannot find it later during GDALDeleteDataset invocation. Network File System (NFS) is being used. Does it ring any bell?

@drnextgis I'm not an NFS user and haven't seen this kind of thing. I just found an interesting blog post, though. Does https://blog.dend.ro/a-fun-nfs-bug/ sound familiar?
