This PR depends on Vite 5.2
which isn't released yet, I just didn't want to forget so opening now. Vite 5.2 includes a feature forssr.noExternalsso that we can just set it totrueto auto-externalize Node.js built-ins. See the changelog https://github.com/vitejs/vite/blob/v5.2.0-beta.0/packages/vite/CHANGELOG.md#520-beta0-2024-03-12 and PR vitejs/vite#16019. (Note that'node'is the defaultssr.target.)
