Can not seed & menu is not present #1679
Comments
Your Gemfile works for me... I noticed in Stack Overflow you included an error about |
Can I please see |
The Stack post may be a bit behind. This started awhile back and that post was from when it originally happened. The project kinda got sidelined while my dayjob took over. seeds: # This file should contain all the record creation needed to seed the database with its default values.
# The data can then be loaded with the rake db:seed (or created alongside the db with db:setup).
#
# Examples:
#
# cities = City.create([{ name: 'Chicago' }, { name: 'Copenhagen' }])
# Mayor.create(name: 'Emanuel', city: cities.first)
# Added by Refinery CMS Pages extension
Refinery::Pages::Engine.load_seed
# Added by Refinery CMS Inquiries engine
Refinery::Inquiries::Engine.load_seed
# Added by Refinery CMS Front Page Headers extension
Refinery::FrontPageHeaders::Engine.load_seed |
Do you still get an error with |
Yea. I thought the problem was identical as the stack post because the same action resulted in a similar error. Since then I destroyed the project and moved everything over to an app generated from a refinery template. I then moved all of my files over.
|
I'm guessing you can't add me to the application so that I can have a poke around? |
I can but that seems like a lot to ask of you. |
actually, it's volunteer work for me and for a nonprofit so i wouldn't feel as bad if you poked around for a minute or two. I'd be forever indebted though :) If the offer is on the table and you're interested, shoot me an email chance at cyberstride _dot_net and i'll add you to my beanstalk account. thanks! |
done! |
@chanced OK I've figured it out. Your problem in this case was 'squeel'. Once I removed that from the Gemfile (commented it out and pushed it to master on your git repository) your application seeds properly. Please let me know if there's still an issue with your menu. |
@parndt you're a genius dude. That definitely resolved the issue with getting the app to seed. Unfortunately the menus still arent showing so I think I'm just going to spin up a simple CMS until I have time to dig in and figure out why. I can't thank you enough for the help man. Thanks! |
I'll take a look at the menus in the next few hours |
Ah, I really appreciate it but don't worry about it man, seriously. I'm going to put together a very simple CMS with rails_admin for now and circle back once i get it out the door. I plan to make refinery the primary admin area rather than using rails_admin but for now it'll work. Thanks again! |
@chanced the issue is very easy to solve. Open up <%= render(:partial => "/refinery/menu", :locals => {
:dom_id => 'menu', :css => 'menu',
:roots => refinery_menu_pages
}) %> You simply weren't telling it which pages to render :-) |
Dude, you are my hero. Thank you so much. I'm not sure how that happened. I didn't think I altered that when I overwrote the view, woops! |
You're welcome :-) I've trained myself to spot things that others won't in Refinery apps. We can peg it to the sheer quantity of time spent on it ;-) |
I have a quasi-existing application that I'm trying to add Refinery to but I keep running into an error when trying to seed and the menu does not show up on any pages I make myself.
I've gone as far as dumping my previous app, starting this app with refinery's template, and then moving code over. I've included the error, gemfile, and a partial schema below. Please let me know if you need anything else.
This question is also on StackOverflow with a +200 point bounty.
