Introducation Steffen/Refugee Hackathon

  • Steffen is part of the Hackathon's organizing team
  • Metabrain would be ideal in order to integrate it into the website of the Refugee Hackathon
  • Metabrain could be the Backend of the Refugee Hackathon
    • in order to organize support for all the projects
    • in order to find projects that need and are suitable for support
  • Hackathon sees itself more and more as a ThinkTank and wants more professionel project management
  • Hackathon will write a concept for its own future
  • Later, Metabrain could be the base of an app store (vision)
  • Note to Co-Design-Workshop, December 12, 2015 in Berlin (http://www.jugendkulturen.de/details/co-design-workshop-27.html)
  • Refugees organize themselves on facebook, all other have to start at the point where facebook's capabilities are limited.

Introduction Katharina/Migration Hub

Introduction Britta/Refugee Board Berlin

  • Refugee board is an app distributing help to refugees and helping supporters to find the ideal spot to help
  • has data base for Berlin projects
  • would like to expand

Suggestions/Tips by Katharina and Steffen for Metabrain

  • Metabrain should be included in Refugee Hackathon concept
  • projects that have to edit their own entries in the data base have to be attracted by something (e.g., funding/support opportunities)
  • Organizing people to help Metabrain: capacities (time and interests) have to be known
  • data base has to be in English and German
  • marketing of Metabrain
    • refugees hear from projects by word of mouth
    • facebook very important
    • marketing cannot be just digital
  • next steps
    • define working packages
    • organize people behind meta brain
    • distribute working packages
    • bring project forward
    • meet refugees and ask them about their needs
    • define project managers/persons in charge
    • discuss project management tools
  • Human Ressources
    • Designers will be important as well
    • Marketing is needed
  • Database needs open API (important for other projects - Britta)

Meeting with TU Berlin team

  • around 12-15 TU team members were present
  • TU team informed us about their next steps
    • team is seperated into different teams: database programming, project searchers and category definers
    • they could have a first database running in 2 weeks (mid December)
    • want to offer full-text search
    • process of defining categories is hard
    • every project will have its own little written introduction text (for full-text search)
  • Ulrike informed TU team on meeting with Katharina, Britta and Steffen and emphasized that we would like to continue working together on metabrain
  • we will need a more structured overview of the TU team (who is who)
