There is a project called PDCurses.js which actually allows linking with lcurses. Just wondering if you have considered using it instead of writing the terminal interaction manually. The advantage would be to compile the original project without the need to hack the original files and its compiled size is small too.

Interesting. Thank you for your suggestion. But unfortunately, the project looks inactive. It uses ASYNCIFY feature of Emscripten but it's deprecated and no longer developed. I agree that using CUI frontend would reduce hacks, but I could not find out any library whose quality is enough to rely on.
