I was trying out the Japanese text corpus. Unfortunately, the program is not really compatible with using a custom IME, to the point that it’s completely unusable.

It currently behaves in the following way:

  • When a word consists of multiple characters, the input is cut after the first character and after the penultimate character (which makes it very difficult to input the rest of the word due to the way pronunciation-based IMEs work).
  • Also when a word consists of multiple characters and the last character is input, it will be doubled.
  • When a word consists of a single character, it works just fine. WTF?

I’m using ibus-mozc to input Japanese on Ubuntu.

Confirming that the program behaves similarly when using a Chinese IME like ibus-libpinyin.

Terminals are nasty beasts. It's difficult to get them right. Please try my fix on master and let me know if it's working for you.

Sorry for not replying sooner. It seems to work fine now, thank you very much!
