I don't really think it's a bad idea, especially, since you need to disable it only until you install mySIMBL. Afterwards you can enable it.
I actually have even more controversial view on that and I think disabling SIP altogether is not such a high security issue. (Note that I have SIP enabled, as I don't have the need to disable it, but if I did have, I would disable it)
I got it working in High Sierra following this tutorial:

The main issue I had was disabling SIP. (I even installed mYSIMBL first and then went to disable SIP and it still worked)
