wlan disconnects when device locks

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. connect to wifi network.
2. let device idle for several minutes
3. awaken device

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Like in Maemo, the device should still be connected to wlan(or should 
immediately reconnect I'm not sure how android handles this). Instead I have to 
go into settings, network, wifi and select my network again.

What is your device, RootFS and kernel versions?

n900, 0.0.5-3-BIG, and the .o3 kernel that comes with bootmenu 1.1

android does not stay connected when asleep. it prefers saving battery over 
connectivity (as a phone should) the issue with it not reconnecting is due to 
issues in the wifi driver that are being looked at
