maybe just a MIT license?
It would help user make open source contribution know how their contributions will be used.
Additionally some of us make contribution using corporate laptop and there are review process that a license is needed.

sbt is currently distributed under Apache v2 license https://github.com/sbt/sbt/blob/1.10.x/LICENSE, so we will match that for the documentation as well to avoid any complication.
