Challenge 23 :-
Summarize good practice tips for open-source.

Branch

  1. Add your username as well as features you are working on but avoid giving it a long, descriptive name.
  2. Keep all the changes separated from main branch untill it's not ready to be merged.
  3. Branch names should unique.

PR

  1. Naming should be appropriate.
  2. Before making a pull request, check for the conflicts before merging.
  3. Should gave meaningful descriptions.

Issue

  1. If you are a beginner, always start with a good-first-issue tagged issue.
  2. Informing others that you are working on it by proper commenting your work updates.
  3. Use labels which make helpful for everyone.

Solved a issue and Created PR: https://github.com/PrakashGatiyala/hackerrank_problems-or-hackerearth_problems/pull/183
Finally Done a successfull Open source Contribution.

Tips for Hacktoberfest :

  1. During complete Hacktoberfest-2022 event we need to contribute 4PRs.
  2. Follow the Hacktoberfest guidelines and rules thoroughly.
  3. Repos without the “hacktoberfest” label, are not considered for the event.
  4. PR must not be spammy, if 2 spam PR found person is disqualified.

Challenge 28 :-
Found open source contribution exciting and also want to mentor in Hacktoberfest 2022 so registered as both a participant and maintainer.

Stuff learnt about Hacktoberfest:

  1. Finding good repositories is very crucial as without that we will not be able to comfortable contribute and will not learn new things. Saved some good repos to which I can start contribution during the Hacktoberfest.
  2. We will have to create a issue regarding the Hacktoberfest so that the participants came to know about the repos.
  3. Only the 1st 40k people get a chance to win a tshirt or plant a tree of their own.
