we've been hesitant to add declarations to our various packages because of the additional maintenance. we are not interested in converting the source to typescript, so adding declarations becomes an additional burden for us to keep up. this is especially difficult to give priority to on a plugin like this one that we actively discourage folks from using in the first place.
i'll leave this open for now since it is possible we could do it at some point, but i dont expect this to be something we make a priority in the near term.
For TypeScript users, this would allow easier configuration of the plugin in TS/JS files.
Semantic Release added a declaration file for index.js last year. Its Options type provides partial support for IntelliSense and type validation.
