Hello people
I have been asked to reopen the issue as the aim has shifted a bit. In issue #5779 it was shown how Windows ignores and greatly reduces the sound from other media sources. No one needs these settings and besides Signal everyone also ignores this setting.
Can you join the other messenger services in this regard and ignore this Windows setting? I know that this is the default value of Windows. But that doesn't make it better. Thanks :)
It is annoying to change this every time. Windows is a bit creative in its behavior there.
With kind regards

@Riffecs The reason to enter a new bug was so that you would provide your specific Windows version number and possibly also your sound hardware because other people said it was fixed.

@Riffecs I see that you gave my last comment a thumbs-up. Can you provide your Windows Version and audio hardware/driver information as well?

Yes, I can do that. So:
Windows: Windows 11 Home 22H2
Audio: Realtek(R) Audio Version: 6.0.8921.1

But as I said, it's not a deep problem but simply that Signal should ignore the Windows setting by default.

A debug log from Signal Desktop (View -> Debug Log) would be good as well, to get your specific desktop version, and any errors that might be coming from your audio interface. Thanks!

My audio interface is doing well.
It's really just a matter of ignoring the Windows setting.
