PDF files can be created from the Open Office file.
This process exports an Open Office document with a macro at the beginning that saves the file as a PDF file and then closes Open Office and launches the PDF file in a viewer.
Open Office must be installed. Open Office macros must be enabled. The generation process seems to be at least as fast as Prince. The process creates a PDF result that looks like the Open Office file. So if graphite is enabled in Open Office, the graphite characters will appear in the PDF file. (Graphite characters did not always come out properly in Prince.) Footnotes are placed at the bottom of the column containing the caller. Prince placed the footnotes at the bottom spanning the two columns.
