Sktime is an active community, well organised, openly governed and community-driven, making it an ideal place to launch my open-source journey.
I have great interest on Finance and Economics. I even took the Principles of Economics class as an auditor last semester. This interest naturally spills over into my fascination with time series prediction, which plays a crucial role in various areas.
Series prediction is deeply coupled with my academic research. Predicting robot or pedestrian movements relies on series prediction. Likewise, path planning for robots or robotic arms involves predicting the optimal trajectory. Similarly, selecting the best path in sampling-based path planning algorithms can be seen as a type of series regression.
Series Data Processing: I'm eager to gain a deeper understanding of how time series data is effectively processed and manipulated.
Code Structure and Design: I'm keen to learn best practices for code structure and design principles to build a well-structured code base.
CI and Testing: Understanding the project's CI and testing processes will allow me to contribute code that adheres to the project's quality standards and manage future projects.
What's next for you after the mentorship program?
Following the mentorship program, I aspire to continue contributing to open-source projects. I aim to leverage the knowledge gained here to enhance my academic pursuits and future career endeavors. Ideally, I'd like to one day become a mentor myself within sktime's mentorship program.
