I'm wondering if perhaps we actually want to stay on typings for node 12 for as long as we support that version instead?

Good question; it's a tradeoff I presume. The 16 typings will tell us if there are deprecations.
However, we do have 100% test coverage, so we should notice if something breaks between versions.

Maybe 14 is a good compromise then 😄
