MyCaffe is a multi-faceted, deep learning AI Platform with the single goal of making AI easy for C# developers to create AI solutions on Windows based systems using NVIDIA CUDA based GPUs.

Originally, MyCaffe started as a two year research project, where Dave Brown re-wrote the entire open-source CAFFE AI Platform, including all automated tests. This was quite an effort!

From its original writing, MyCaffe has expanded today to support much more than the original CAFFE platform offered, now allowing C# developers not just perform classification using common models, such as AlexNet, ResNet, VGG, GoogNet, Inception, SiameseNet, TripletNet; but now also offer Neural Style Transfer, perform object detection using Single-Shot Multi-Box; and run Reinforcement and Recurrent learning all with the same AI platform.

Our long-term goal is to continue to expand MyCaffe to support each exciting facet of AI including, expanding and improving on the existing Reinforcement Learning implementation to include Inverse Reinforcement Learning and better integrate classification and object-detection models as inputs into the reinforcement learning algorithms so as to provide complex decision making support based on inputs ‘sensed’ from the patterns detected within the data.

Sponsorship is vital to keep open-source projects running, for maintaining and expanding such an AI platform takes tremendous effort to ensure each release output is at the highest quality possible. We automate the entire build process and have over 1,200 automated tests that are maintained for each release. Before each release, we go through an extensive release process that involves both automated and manual testing. In addition, we support CUDA versions 10.2 through the most recent release and support GPU’s with compute 3.5 on up through 8.0. We strive to release in sync with each major CUDA release so as to provide the access to the most recent GPU technologies released by NVIDIA. Our distributed AI solution allows for running AI work-loads on idle GPU’s thus optimizing hardware assets.

It is very important to us that our users are happy with their use of MyCaffe. We monitor our 'Issues' area and place a high priority on fixing issues raised by users by creating samples that help clarify how to better use MyCaffe, and add fixes to bugs to the next release. Sponsorship helps us keep this as a high priority in our development cycles.

Why do we do this? Well, quite simply – we love AI and see it as ‘the’ transformational technology of our time. We believe that it is critical that each developer, no matter how small, has easy access to AI in a way that does not have strings attached to costly cloud compute solutions. In our opinion, this is the only way to truly ‘democratize’ AI.
