Become a sponsor to Ben Fortuna
Ben Fortuna is a seasoned Software Developer from Melbourne, Australia. Much of his experience comes from working as an Enterprise Java Developer, and in more recent years as a Cloud Solution Architect and advocate of DevOps practices.
Ben has a passion for open software and interoperability, as he believes the best technological advances are not the result of financial motivation, but rather emerge from experimentation and mashups of open and interoperable systems.
Ben is actively working on the iCal4j suite of Java libraries that focus on implementation of the iCalendar-related RFCs. iCal4j is focused on increasing the adoption of iCalendar as a transactional data format that may be applied to more use-cases beyond meeting and appointment scheduling in widespread use today.
Ben is also exploring common blueprints for Cloud infrastructure via the f i g u r a t e project, which is aimed at developing reusable public infrastructure components via Terraform modules, Ansible roles and Docker images.
Finally, Ben is also experimenting with Web Content Publishing via the Apache Sling project. Whistlepost is a Sling-based content publishing application specifically designed for deployment to horizontally-scalable Cloud platforms. It focuses on compatibility with headless CMS tooling such as forestry.io.
These projects all incur some costs to maintain, from domain name registration to the operation of Cloud infrastructure to support free services such as tzurl.org.
Your sponsorship can contribute to maintaining and improving these services to ensure security and resilience via high availability architectures, service replication, etc.
