ml4a (Machine Learning for Artists) is a collection of tools and educational resources dedicated to machine learning for arts and creativity. It contains:
- a python library which wraps popular open-source deep learning models under a common API.
- a suite of code samples and beginner-friendly tutorials on how to get started with deep learning, using PyTorch and ml5.js.
- in-depth video lectures with theory, application reviews, and practical tutorials.
- a four-chapter book explaining artificial neural networks from first principles.
- a Slack community with (as of Jan 2021) over 1200 members.
ml4a has been under continual development since 2015, with most of the materials on the original ml4a.github.io having been written between 2016 and 2018. Since mid-2020, a reboot of ml4a is in-progress, which promises new and updated tutorials, a stable python library, a new website, and more community engagement.
