Summary

I've been a lover of free software since the 2000's, attending and speaking at many Linux conferences and Open Source Developer Conferences. Among my day job of being a dad and working as a software developer, I also build and maintain the Lexica, Super Retro Mega Wars, and Beat Feet Android games and the BabyDots, BabyPhone, and BabyBook app to help babies relax, talk, and learn.

Any sponsorship will be used to help motivate further development on these apps as well as contributions to other free software projects.

Games

Lexica, Super Retro Mega Wars, and Beat Feet exist because I believe that there should be high quality free software games for the Android ecosystem.

Lexica

I love the original Lexic game, and this port has been created to modernise, but more importantly internationalise the game.

Super Retro Mega Wars

Super Retro Mega Wars is something I've been thinking of since my university days. The thing I love about this is that it has endless opportunity for growth. Not only can we continue to add more and more great games to it for relatively low effort, but there is also plenty of opportunity to jazz up the multiplayer experience by adding new mechanics.

Beat Feet

Beat Feet is another game I've been stewing over since my childhood, when I read about Vib-Ribbon in a PS1 magazine but was unfortunately unable to obtain a copy. The idea of proceduraly generated levels based on the music of your choice has always fascinated me. This game is not yet at the quality that I'd like to see with regards to high quality level generation that aligns with the rhythm of a song, but we'll get there!

Baby Apps

The baby apps are inspired by my own daughter, who constantly amazes me with her curiosity and thirst for knowledge.

BabyDots

BabyDots exists because it really did help my baby relax and sleep in her younger months when she was particularly upset. As she is growing slightly older, the interactivity and colours still keeps her curious. We wanted to share that with others who may be able to benefit too.

BabyPhone

BabyPhone was born from our lockdown experience where her main interaction with family was via the phone. On those occasions when we couldn't get in touch with people she wished to talk to, I thought it would be fun to have some pre-recorded messages from family members for her to "talk" to. In practice, she actually prefers to walk around with a remote control as a pretend phone, but perhaps your little one will enjoy it.

BabyBook

BabyBook is something I started when I noticed that she would get heavily interested in a particular topic very fast. When she spontaneously gets interested in the difference between feet, hooves, and paws - I wanted to print out a book for her about the topic then and there. This app is my attempt at facilitating this.

@pserwylo

Looking to be fueled by one or two (overpriced Australian) coffees each month to help me work on the open source games Lexica, Beat Feet, and Super Retro Mega Wars, along with the open source apps Baby Dots, Baby Phone, and Baby Book.
