Thanks for pointing this out! Just looking at this now. This is a cool approach, and really like the additional checking if close to shoreline. I'm hoping this project will also include inland bodies of water, too, so that's one big difference. Thanks for sharing.
Nice👍 Roaring should as well, if the shapes still have inland bodies. Can't quite remember if I removed those. It uses the mask to determine if the point is in the water. Any blue pixel is always completely in the water, but the inverse is not true - and checked against the polygons.
