I wonder if there may be some bits in https://github.com/nexB/debian-inspector and the new extensive support for Debian machine readable copyright files in https://github.com/nexB/scancode-toolkit/blob/develop/src/packagedcode/debian_copyright.py and https://github.com/nexB/scancode-toolkit/blob/develop/src/packagedcode/debian.py by @AyanSinhaMahapatra may be of some help?

Hi Philippe,

unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to work on this project right now - but yes I have considered looking at debian-inspector.

In the end I think I will limit the scope of this project again to only go REUSE/SPDX -> dep5 for automatic copyright generation when building Debian packages.
