This doesn't seem right. Looks like the method was deprecated in 2.1, then removed in 2.3. This part of BC layer was probably forgotten in #7227 and should be removed.

@jakzal is was removed in 2.3, but appeared in 2.4. Check this #14922

2.4 is not maintained. And the fix is going to be merged in newer branches anyway
