As @nicholasjorton suggested, it will be important to be able to move easily beyond the traditional Intro Stats tests to this more flexible space -- else you are just a dead end.

Perhaps it would be better to start from that end than from the 1- and 2-sample end. Most of the 1- and 2-sample things can be thought of as special cases of this more general setting anyway.
