The cache structure for 1M images takes up 125GB of storage, which will be heavily accessed at certain zoom points. It seems feasible to warm the disk cache by having a background thread to read the Pyramid data for the Pyramids visible on the user's viewport, before reaching the zoom-level requiring storage-access (currently that means level 3+: 4x4 tiles and up).
