One thing about the standard vioplot frustrates me is that it doesn't draw an equal area for similar data. Do you think you an add that functionality?

Sorry for late response. Hadn't noticed that about vioplot. I've been able to manipulate plot width with wex (vioplot) boxwex (beanplot) - I think this scales all plots by the same factor though. Could modify it to customise each violin/bean/box separately (as I have for colour) if that would be useful? You'd still have to custom weight them by your own measures - how exactly are these datasets similar?
