A thoughtful look at the recent explosion of AI technology powered by machine learning, and how it is affecting society, both in the West and in the East. The video looks at five stories: (1) China's plan to become the world leader in AI by 2030, (2) the promise of AI, (3) the future of work, (4) surveillance capitalism (Google, Facebook, etc.), and (5) the surveillance state. Persons interviewed include Kai Fu Lee (Sinovation Ventures), Yoshua Bengio (Université de Montréal), Amy Webb (NYU), Regina Barzilay (MIT), Brad Smith (Microsoft), Paul Mazur (NY Times), and Nick Thompson (Wired).
