Slow laggy html5 video playback

Is there a way to optimize html5 streaming video playback because it's verry slow and laggy specially in full screen.
Or may be it's a webview limitation and we can't optimize it ?

I think there should be way to override entirely video playback (for example with exoplayer), but webview has very limited api. I plan to test Mozilla's gecko engine in near future and if it is enough flexible (and especially in context of overriding video playback) then switch tvbro to using it.
