Carousel is not responsive vertically?

I took the sample code for the page provided here: http://getbootstrap.com/examples/carousel/

The slideshow is only resizing images to the horizontal dimension when making the view window smaller horizontally only. This causes stretching or degradation of the image. Am i missing something or is this intended functionality?

I think the reasoning from the previous issue still applies. The carousel images might not all have the same aspect ratio, and we currently don't provide a way to state what aspect ratio you'd like the carousel to have/enforce. That could be a reasonable feature to add in the future though.
