An autoconf problem

when I use autoconf to generate config file,there is an error happend. And I don't know how to fix it.
the error is:

configure.ac:17: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
