I've tried a short refresh delay with the clock plugin.
But my display takes 45-50s to update, and of course, by the time the display triggers the clock is very often already wrong; and when it's not, it's on time for at most 15s.
I've cooked some code to measure the time display lag, and take it into account.
I'll push it tonight.

Interesting solution -- I addressed this by creating the "word clock" plugin that gives the "approximate" time like "The time is nearly Twenty 'Til Eight"
How do you propose to use the lag in slimpi? Will it just be in the clock plugin?
