the Tick system is too rigid to accommodate multiple use cases.
nice-to-have's could be:

  • registering functions (methods) to call, instead of classes (with their one rigid tick method)
  • making the current time available to the client (either absolute or relative)
  • [please edit this list if you have other / better ideas]
