Lack of code comments

Glossing over the code, most of it is lacking in helpful comments. Very hard for anyone to contribute in its current state. As an example, it would be helpful to have documentation on what arguments methods take. Another example: would be super helpful to briefly describe the strategy/algorithm of _astFromTokens.
