Assertion

An Assertion indicates the state an Event in regards to whether it is:

  • hypothetical
  • possible
  • intention - indicates an individual's future intention. If the span is "plan" or "planned" use Equality Comparison Eq-Temporal-Period future.

An Assertion should only be annotated if one of the above cases is applicable. Otherwise all Events are assumed to be true.

Trigger

A phrase such as if, possible, could be, intend to, or desire to.

Examples

Example of an 'Assertion' of 'intention' to become pregnant.

Example of an 'Assertion' of 'possible' pregnancy.

Example of an 'Assertion' of 'intention' to quit smoking.

Arguments

  • Asserted - The Event which the Assertion refers to.
  • Polarity. The Assertion Polarity.
