How can I query the status of a job given a jobItem.id?

Ah, I found it in code kickq.get = function kickqGet(jobId, optCb, optSelf). Seems to be missing from docs.

It's here but i noticed optSelf is missing from the docs

I guess I was looking for a Get Job Status link under The Core API in the README.md.
