Replacement for comparison tables

There are a lot of pages similar to this which contain comparison tables:

I wonder if we could use this to somehow replace/supplement those - at least be able to filter by major drupal version (7/8), selecting only relevant modules (perhaps pass the module names into a query string parameter?), and display versions, security status, last updated etc (if those are available through the API)

thanks @shiningweb. very interesting proposal. I don't fully get the structure and source of the data on the table at https://groups.drupal.org/node/89769, but it's possible, if we have the data structured somehow.
