Marking objects as "important" #78
Comments
Thanks @ajay-sh21 this is initially covered in a broad way by 4.2 https://www.w3.org/TR/xaur/#immersive-semantics-and-customization
Maybe navigation issues or dynamics could be separated from object and interaction semantics issues? Would this make the requirement clearer? |
Sure, I assume when we say "semantically accurate ", it would include marking up crucial objects as important |
Thank you for your comment. This was discusssed in our recent RQTF meeting. We agree with the importance of identifying aspects of XR which need to be conveyed to assistive technologies as a matter of priority, and have endeavoured to identify what some of those are. However, this point does not currently specify how that is done as there are likley to be a large number of important elements which needs to be combined in a way that is available to assistive technologies such as screen readers or scree magnifiers. As there are different ways this could be implemented, the focus is on identifying which elements should be prioritised so any implementation that delivers the content to AT takes these elements into account. |
Relates to #76 |
As there may be so many things in the virtual environment, there should be some easy way to figure out the important information, objects or interactions. If there could be some way to mark any object as important, that could be recognized by ATs like screen readers or any AT that could highlight or make that object glow so that it is easy for low-vision users to locate.
