栏水平切割，上下分栏。

栏垂直切割，左右分栏。

换页、换章时最末页采多栏排列、行于页面结束时，依以下方式处理：
直排时，顺其行文结束，各栏左右行数可不一致。
横排时，各栏的行数可平均。但因字数不足，行数无法与栏数配合时，不足的行数在最后一栏末尾留空。

最好能有图来演示一下这几种情况，对不熟悉中文排版的读者来说比较清晰。
