Abbreviation formation:

Are mixed abbreviation markers appropriate? Meaning can both "/" and "." be used in the same document depending on the abbreviation? Some well established abbreviations apply a "." as the marker, for example "አዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ" becomes "አ.አ.ዩ". This may reflect the chosen convention of the institute.
