After the W3C Team has addressed the comments received during the BLM statement Adivisory Committee review, we need to come up with an introduction to our statement, that explains why it comes so late.
The suggestion during the IDCG call last week (unfortunately not fully minuted) was to explain why it took us a while. It boils down to having a big constituency on the one hand, and the consensus and wide-review process takes time.
We should add something to reflect that in addition to the statement itself we wanted to set in motion a number of concrete projects or endeavours that anchor the statement in a useful reality for the Consortium.
Then, we need to host on the W3C website the statement on a standalone page, titled "W3C supports Black Lives Matter".
And the W3C Comm team (and this group) needs to promote this.

I propose to close because:
The present thinking of the IDCG being that we will not publish a BLM statement at this time but will instead focus on making progress with the various activities designed to make our community more welcoming, and to try and encourage W3C to incorporate support for BLM in its general messaging.
Following the 2020-12-01 IDCG Meeting, we're closing this but with a parting shot: it seems there is a consideration we should continue with a statement, in v2 form.
