FWIW, https://raw.githack.com/smch/tts/master/amazon-polly/ may be of some interest to you. I believe the highlighting can be adjusted from Polly

(Had interest in TTS. Been following you since your bible repo... not sure why you archived it now. So, thought of sharing it to you.)
