I have the remote script in the scripts folder, verified the script is running on the MiSTer, added the entry on downloader.ini and ran update_all, but the app doesnt seem to attempt to connect. If I click the remote icon top right, and enter host name/url there, the save button is greyed out, not selectable, hitting enter does nothing. If I enter the host name/url through the remote option in settings, it lets me enter and save host name/url, but doesnt connect afterwards. After doing this, the remote icon top right still has host name/url blank.

I sure would appreciate any help I can get!

Hi. Can you please upload a screenshot of exactly what you're putting in the text box to connect? Thanks!

Jeez the app won't even open anymore. The last time I entered the hostname/ip through settings and saved it, it resulted in the app going to an all black screen. I've uninstalled it several times now, restarted the mobile multiple times, reinstalled - but each time the app comes up with that same blacked out screen.

Can you still open the Remote web app from your mister? If you can try open the app first, then close it, open the web app from the mister directly and go to Settings > Remote > Download Remote log. And upload that file here please. It might have some more information about what's going on

How do I open the web app from the mister directly? All I see is the option to run the script. Appreciate your help with this!

Settings>Remote>Download remote log is accessible in the Mister itself? I don't see that anywhere in the Mister's files, and in the Mister itself all I can find is an option to run the script, where it lets me turn remote on or off.

From Remote itself. Sorry, I mean open a web browser on your phone or computer and go to http://your misters ip address:8182/ or just the address is says in the window when when you run remote.sh from the MiSTer scripts menu. This will open the web version of the app and hopefully let you through it enough to get the log

Ok I was able to use the remote through my desktop web browser. It allowed me to enter the mister IP in settings, I uploaded a pic of the settings screen to show you the ip settings. I reinstalled the mister app onto my mobile. . The app still gives me a blacked out screen when I try to open it on mobile. I then closed the app, and downloaded the remote log and uploaded that as well. Hopefully this helps sheds some light on why the app isnt working on my mobile. Some of the activity on the log is from me pulling up a SNES game using the remote.

I actually hit this exact same behavior with the android app. I was trying to connect to the mister on the same network (mister is ethernet, app was through phone wifi) on either the tapto ui app or the Remote app and failing to connect with either.

When on the remote app, I tried saving the IP address in the main connect window, like the user above, but my save option was also greyed out. I found another option in the settings menu and tried to enter it there, but it didn't seem to save and instead blacked out the app screen. Like the OP, any attempt to restart/force quit the app didn't help; it got borked real bad and I had to reinstall.

I ended up trying the iOS app on my ipad next and managed to get through. It looked like it was going to hit the same behavior but instead I got a popup from my device asking if it was okay for the app to access files on the network. Then I was able to save.

I think our phones are hitting a permission issue. Though I will say, I've had no luck connecting through my browser on my desktop as well.

Well, I looked in to this further and it turned out the problem existed between the keyboard and chair; the mobile app wasn't connected to the right wifi and wasn't on the same network as the Mister. Everything worked fine after adjusting that.

My original experience matched the OP. I'm not sure if they're still around to answer, but the issue might have been user error there as well. If so, I think the app just has an issue handling connection errors. Rather than telling the user it can't find the device/ip address, it makes the save function unavailable. If the user can't figure out what's wrong and tries to enter an IP address in the deeper settings option, they can lock up the android mobile app.

Probably not a high priority, but hope this helps!
