It looks like there's the 10031 data for litter chemistry (1x per year from the litter traps, collected in the peak litterfall bout).
I know weights for the litterfall masses are sorted into leaves, needles, etc, but the litterfall chemistry is just a bulk sample?
Second, I'm curious if there's a comparable measurement for grassland sites, or if it's just the 10026 foliar chemistry data. Are data from the clip harvests (10023) ever measured for chemistry?
From Samantha Weintraub:
Nope, litter chemistry is by functional group as well, but so far we only measure leaves and needles. I believe I put these data into the SOM tarball, no? The temporal resolution is 1x every 5 years, from all traps. I’m attaching the Data Product User Guide if you’d like more details, see section 3.2. We are looking to move toward analysis of all the litter functional groups (seeds, twigs, etc) in future but not there yet.
Yes it is only foliar chemistry 10026 in terms of chemistry of herbaceous plant material. We do not analyze chemistry of the clip harvests for biomass (10023).
