First startup of retrodeck requires setting the data folder using the GUI. This is a feature request to allow headless initialization of the data folder using either retrodeck itself with a special option or a separate tool to skip this manual step. Note, that at the moment the --reset-retrodeck option still calls GTK functions and does not work headlessly. This is required for configuration management system such as ansible.

What could be the usecase of this?

We can evaluate the feature but probably not our priority at the moment, if you want to contribute to it we are available to guide you in the forst steps, feel free to get back here or Discord.

Thanks a lot!

The use case is automatic installs, using for example ansible.
