IE6 Support #33
Comments
The issue with the IE6 VM is that it runs under XP, which VirtualBox does not support out of the box. Specifically, VirtualBox does not ship with a network adapter that's compatible with XP without a 3rd party driver. We could get around that by automating the install of an appropriate driver, but licensing restrictions prevent us from distributing a driver that works. I've had initial success with an alternative method, but it's definitely not ready for the masses yet. Soon |
@xdissent what are you personally doing for IE6 in your own testing work these days (given there's no magic ievms solution as yet)? Could we work up a donation drive to motivate you? ;) |
@xdissent thanks for the explanation, I tried to get it working manually and had some amount of success but ran in to other problems that prevented it from being a workable solution. Thanks for your time - much appreciated! OP |
Hi,
I see that IE6 support is disabled but I can't see an explanation as to why this is. Is there a reason? Would it be possible for me to manually add IE6 afterwards or is there a problem that blocks IE6 support?
Awesome script BTW, just running in the background now... looking like it's going to take several days!
Cheers,
OP
