Openfire online contacts

Hello my name is lendro, I from Argentina, I have Openfire server to which I 
connect via a pidgin client, and now I want to do a web chat.
With this library I connect perfectly and sending messages to other users.

I would like to know how to list the connected users.

I tried this http://code.google.com/p/xmpphp/issues/detail?id=122, but it is 
extremely slow and php usually gives up.
My jabber server has more than 2000 users.
