Problem saving large configuration files

When looking at the SSH logs, the entire configuration is present, however, on the saved version, the end of the file is nowhere to be seen. It usually stops around the same line of the file, sometimes a bit further down the file, sometimes not so much.
I can provide any info required to diagnose and therefore fix this.
