gyp should complain if given non-ascii input / CRLFs #38

Since gyp only handles ascii input at this point. It should complain loudly if 
given something else.

Seems to complain on some platforms but not others if there are any unicode 
characters in the file.

This should also apply to crlf on platforms where this chokes python.
